WHO ARE WE?
Growing Volleyball. Building Confidence. Creating Community.
Redwood Empire Volleyball Club (REVC) is a youth volleyball organization dedicated to growing the game of volleyball throughout Humboldt County. We provide athletes of all skill levels with opportunities to learn, compete, and develop through camps, clinics, leagues, academies, and competitive club volleyball programs.
Founded on the belief that sports build confidence, character, and lifelong skills, REVC focuses on creating a positive environment where athletes can challenge themselves, develop meaningful relationships, and achieve their goals both on and off the court.
Our coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. Whether an athlete is touching a volleyball for the first time or preparing to compete at a high level, our goal is to provide quality instruction and opportunities for growth.
REVC proudly serves athletes from across the region while working to expand access to volleyball through community partnerships, youth programming, and the continued development of local opportunities for athletes and families.
At REVC, we're more than a volleyball club—we're building a community committed to developing athletes, leaders, and lifelong learners through sport.

Understanding Club Volleyball
Competitive club volleyball in the United States is primarily organized through two national governing organizations: Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USA Volleyball (USAV). Both organizations provide opportunities for athletes to compete, develop their skills, and participate in tournaments throughout the season.
AAU Volleyball
AAU Volleyball focuses on providing affordable and flexible opportunities for athletes to compete. AAU events often offer a wider range of competition levels and tournament formats, making it a great option for athletes who are newer to club volleyball or seeking additional playing opportunities.
Benefits of AAU Volleyball:
-
Lower membership costs
-
Flexible tournament options
-
Opportunities for athletes of all skill levels
-
Strong emphasis on player development
-
Additional playing opportunities throughout the year
WHAT IS JVA?
The Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) is a national organization created by volleyball clubs to provide additional competitive opportunities for junior athletes. Unlike USA Volleyball (USAV), which is the National Governing Body for the sport, JVA focuses on supporting clubs, coaches, and athletes through tournaments, events, education, and player development programs.
Many high-quality tournaments across the country are sanctioned through JVA, and some of the nation's top clubs participate in JVA events alongside USAV and AAU competitions.
Benefits of JVA Events:
-
Additional tournament opportunities throughout the season
-
High-quality competition against clubs from multiple regions
-
Often more scheduling flexibility than traditional USAV events
-
Club-focused approach to athlete development
-
Opportunities to compete against teams outside of your regular league structure
USA Volleyball
Benefits of USA Volleyball:
USA Volleyball (USAV) is the National Governing Body for volleyball in the United States and oversees many of the country's premier club volleyball events. USAV competition follows a structured pathway that includes regional leagues, national qualifiers, and national championship events.
-
Highly competitive tournament opportunities
-
Nationally recognized competition structure
-
Regional and National Championship pathways
-
Strong athlete development standards
-
Exposure to high-level competition
Why We Use Multiple Organizations
No single volleyball organization offers every tournament or opportunity that benefits our athletes. By participating in AAU, USAV, and JVA events, REVC can provide the best balance of player development, competition, exposure, affordability, and scheduling flexibility.
Our focus is not on the sanctioning body—it is on creating the best possible experience for our athletes and families while helping players develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.
